Worth the Investment?

The following message I received from my good friend Brian Smith, Platinum Disc Jockeys.

Wolfy- how good are the dvd’s as a learing tool for cps dj’ing- I’ve got a couple of platforms- OTS and PCDJ most prevelant- worth the investment?

Hey Brian, thanks for the question…

If you are referring to my books that were originally distributed on CD-ROM, the current version “Introduction to Computer DJing & CPS” is available as a paperback book. The DVDs are of my seminars at the Computer DJ Summit in 2005 and 2006. All are well worth the investment - at least I think so anyway - but if I had to recommend one or the other, I would have to say that the new book is the greatest value for your money. Of course there are still a handful of the old version “So You Wanna Go Digital - Revised First Edition” that are on sale for half-price; but that is only while the very limited supplies last.

Allow me to qualify that a bit. My newest book contains the most basic terminology, hardware and software that every DJ who uses a computer to spin tunes absolutely needs to be familiar with. Additionally, there are quite a number of basic concepts that are thoroughly discussed as well, all lightly served up using common language and a touch of my “warped sense of humor” as one fellow put it here.

The seminars on the other hand are useful, however the length of time dedicated during each seminar is limited at best and only allows a few topics to be covered briefly. When combined with my books, I feel the DVDs offer a much more inclusive experience greater than the sum of the parts. However the videos themselves do not have the same impact for someone who has not read my book.

Anyway, copies of my book are available on my online store at:
