During the course of the conversation he tells me that he is a DJ now and having the time of his life “making good money” as he put it. Of course he also mentions that he is using cutting edge technology (a laptop) and has all this music that he got “off the Internet” (MP3s). When I asked him what program he was using he gave me this puzzled look and said… (more…)

In a historically unprecedented move, Microsoft has announced that it will continue to support Windows XP through the year 2014! Traditionally, Microsoft discontinues supporting an operating system less than ten years after it is released. However with poor sales in the business sector as well as droves of people downgrading their systems to Windows XP, Microsoft is hoping to avoid the low-end computer manufacturers from shipping their consumer machines with Linux installed instead. Microsoft done did it again! In 2000 they released Windows ME (Millenium Edition) - which is quite possibly their biggest flop ever - followed by a less than stellar full public release of Vista, now they gone and screwed up XP as well. More specifically, the third service pack release also known as SP3 has been causing almost as much grief and headaches for PC users as Vista! Can you say train wrecks galore?

The other three comprised of two lazy nit-wits asking what everyone thought was the best software (presumably to load onto their equally lame laptop) and one poor soul who managed to pick up a trojan-horse virus on their home computer. Now aside from the fact that I don’t have much of a life and I am counting the number of threads where someone cries about a laptop, I realized that there was a definite trend that has been going on for some time.

In the course of looking for new ways to help promote my website and blog, I stumbled upon a means to create an online ‘magazine’ at Zimbio. I started submitting content from various articles I have written, which told me that there was no such topic of interest (at least on Zimbio) so I set up a new zine called “So You Wanna Go Digital - Common Sense for the Computer DJ”.

In the next few days, I will be making a road trip on up to Connecticut to hang out with my friends Mike Fernino and Steve Fernino - founders of DJ Idea Sharing and now podcast personalities for the DJ Idea Sharing Podcasts - to record several episodes covering topics revolving around computers, computer DJing and of course my newest book. It’s been a while since I have seen this dynamic duo, so when Steve contacted me to tell about the ideas that he and Mike were kicking around for podcasts, I was definitely looking forward to participating.
